Curriculum and Objectives In language arts, we will be be reading a variety of texts and genres. We will use close reading strategies to analyze different novels, articles, and stories. We will also learn how to communicate our thoughts and ideas through organized writing while using evidence to support our thinking.

Homework Please expect to have homework every night. Homework will typically involve reading and a guided reading task. In order to be successful, you will need to complete your homework nightly. I will provide reading schedules for each of our novels. It is also important to do independent reading at home. Pick a book that interests you and try to read it for at least twenty minutes a night!
Grading Policy At Mills Park, we use a point system to calculate students' grades. I linked the MPMS grading policy below. In order to monitor your child's grades and progress, please check PowerSchool frequently. If you ever have any questions or concerns about your child's grades, please email me!
Absences If a student is absent, they are still responsible for making up any work they missed. Per school policy, a student has two days for each day they missed to make up an assignment.
